The DuPont™ Sorona® and INVISTA CORDURA® brand collaboration showcase performance proof garments at the Angel Island Slow Food, Slow Fashion event.
The latest collaboration fabrics have not yet hit the commercial market, but there is clearly more to come from this brand duo in the near future as models stride down the beach on Angel Island showcasing prototype garments. “Ready to wear designers will love the lightweight feel and smooth clean look since eco-efficient CORDURA® + Sorona® fabrics offer both stylish elegance with an easy pack and go functionality,” Cindy McNaull, CORDURA® business development director said. “We like to refer to the combination of these technologies as ‘Performance Proof’ since they give comfort, ease of movement and multi-faceted design options while helping you live more sustainably every day.”
Designers love eco-efficient Sorona® polymer based fibers as they provide just the right amount of stretch and movement throughout the day. What happens when you integrate the soft hand and stretch from these Sorona® polymer fibers into the durability that CORDURA® Naturalle fabrics brings to outerwear designs? You get stylish, easy to wear outer shell garments with long-lasting performance in a cotton-like appearance that stretches and moves without the use of spandex. “When ChiaHer, one of our key certified mills out of Taiwan, showed us this new fabric for the CORDURA® + Sorona® collaboration, I could not wait to see it blowing in the San Francisco Bay breezes on Angel Island. It created the perfect lightweight jacket for our athletic model creating a top to bottom spandex free outfit,” explained Laurie Kronenberg, Sorona® brand manager.
ChiaHer has also developed a CORDURA® + Sorona® fabric focused on creating a single layer to replace multiple layer options that still gives that amazing next-to-skin feel. Inspired by the exceptional softness of Sorona® brand fleece, they integrated Sorona® fibers to the backside of the fabric while maintaining the durable and soft CORDURA® Naturalle face performance. The fabric’s stylish versatility made it a great fit to be showcased in both a simple chic ready to wear skirt as well as trendy jogger pants for both every day and workwear fashions. There is clearly more to come from the CORDURA® + Sorona® brand collaboration as they continue to inspire outdoor, lifestyle, and workwear designers.
